How Hidden Subconscious Programs Like Self-Sabotage Hold You Back (and How to Clear Them)
What’s Really Holding You Back?
Have you ever felt like you’re stuck in the same frustrating patterns, no matter how much work you put in? Maybe you’re showing up, taking action, and trying to move forward, but it still feels like life is harder than it should be.
The truth is, it’s not your fault. Your subconscious mind might be running hidden programs—like unworthiness, people-pleasing, or self-sabotage—that are quietly shaping your thoughts, emotions, and actions. These programs, called Generating Programs, were created to protect you, but they often end up holding you back.
Here’s the good news: clearing these blocks doesn’t have to be hard. Once you understand how these programs work and where they come from, you can rewrite them and step into a life of clarity, confidence, and abundance.
What Are Generating Programs?
Your subconscious mind is like a supercomputer, constantly processing emotions, experiences, and energy. When a certain emotion—like fear, guilt, or unworthiness—is felt repeatedly or intensely, your subconscious locks it in as a "truth" and creates a program around it.
These Generating Programs act like algorithms, running in the background of your subconscious to protect you from potential harm or discomfort. While this might have been helpful when you were younger, these programs often become invisible barriers in adulthood, keeping you stuck in limiting patterns.
For example:
Unworthiness: This program might make you doubt your abilities, undervalue your worth, or settle for less in relationships or business.
People-Pleasing: This program convinces you that putting others first is the only way to feel loved or accepted, making it hard to set boundaries or prioritize yourself.
Self-Sabotage: This program shows up as procrastination, quitting before success, or avoiding opportunities altogether because growth feels unsafe.
Why Does Your Subconscious Create These Programs?
Your subconscious creates these programs as protection mechanisms. Its main job is to keep you safe, not to help you thrive. When you experience repeated or intense emotional energy—like rejection, fear, or shame—your subconscious interprets this as a warning.
For example:
If you were criticized as a child, your subconscious might create an unworthiness program to stop you from putting yourself in situations where you could face rejection.
If love or approval felt conditional growing up, your subconscious might create a people-pleasing program to maintain connection and avoid conflict.
If success or standing out brought jealousy or criticism, your subconscious might create a self-sabotage program to keep you small and “safe.”
These programs served a purpose when you were younger, but as an adult, they limit your potential and create resistance in your life.
How Do These Programs Hold You Back?
Generating Programs feel like invisible walls that stop you from moving forward, even when you’re trying your hardest. They might show up as:
Second-guessing yourself when opportunities arise.
Saying yes to things you don’t want to do because you’re afraid of upsetting others.
Avoiding risks or quitting projects just before a breakthrough because it feels “too much.”
These patterns aren’t personal failures—they’re outdated programs running on autopilot.
My Personal Story: From Stuck to Free
For years, I unknowingly lived with multiple Generating Programs running my life.
Unworthiness: This program started when I was six years old. Childhood experiences made me feel unseen and not enough. It influenced everything—how I undervalued myself in relationships, hesitated to raise my rates in business, and doubted my abilities.
Self-Sabotage: In my 20s, I developed a program that made me procrastinate, overthink, and avoid opportunities. It convinced me to stay small because growth felt uncertain and risky.
Had I never done this work, I don’t think I would have realized just how much these programs were affecting my life. One of my clients even told me that working with me helped her leap forward 20 years in her healing journey.
The truth is, so many of us—especially those who’ve experienced trauma early in life—go through life feeling like we’re constantly dredging through mud. Everything feels hard, and we don’t understand why we do the things we do. But clearing these programs changes everything.
How to Clear Generating Programs
Here’s the best part: clearing these subconscious blocks doesn’t have to be hard. With the right tools, you can:
Identify the program. Notice the recurring thoughts, emotions, or behaviors that feel out of alignment.
Trace its origin. Ask yourself: When did this start? What emotion created it? Sometimes, identifying the specific event can help you connect the dots.
Clear the energy. Once your subconscious understands the details and sees the program isn’t serving you anymore, it releases the energy easily and permanently.
This is exactly what I teach in my Quantum Alchemy Clearing (QAC) course. With practical, easy-to-use tools, QAC helps you uncover these programs, trace their origins, and clear them for good. You don’t have to be a master healer—just willing to dive in and let go of what’s been holding you back.
